INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONS CUP AND AUDI FOOTBALL SUMMIT ANNOUNCES FC BAYERN MUNICH AND REAL MADRID TO SQUARE OFF ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3 AT METLIFE STADIUM

NEW YORK (March 22, 2016) – Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures – a multi-national sports and entertainment venture firm with a focus on new technologies – today announced that reigning Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich will square off against La Liga stalwarts Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Wednesday, August 3 as part of the 2016 International Champions Cup and Audi Football Summit. The match will kickoff at 7:30PM ET.

FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid met last year in the Audi Cup in Germany. Two of the biggest and most prestigious clubs in the world, both clubs find themselves in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Champions League.

Tickets to the general public will go on sale Tuesday, April 5 at 10am ET and will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000. If tickets remain, fans can purchase at the MetLife Stadium Box Office beginning Wednesday, April 6 at 11am ET. 

“FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are two of the most well known teams in the world and having them square off is a treat for soccer fans in New York and New Jersey,” said Charlie Stillitano, Chairman of Relevent Sports. “New York and New Jersey are incredible soccer communities with passionate fan bases. We are excited to pit these elite clubs against each other in one of the marquee matches of the 2016 International Champions Cup.”

The 2016 International Champions Cup will run from July 23 – August 13 and play matches across the United States and throughout the world. Each team will play three contests and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion. Each win in regulation will result in three points and a tie will go straight to a shootout; the winning team in a shootout will receive two points and the losing team will receive one.

In total, 10 teams from around the globe, including England (Liverpool, Chelsea F.C. Leicester City), Italy (AC Milan, F.C. Internazionale), France (Paris Saint-Germain F.C.), Spain (Real Madrid Barcelona), Germany (FC Bayern Munich) and Scotland (Celtic F.C.) will compete in the 2016 International Champions Cup. This year's International Champions Cup features the most storied and successful clubs in the world, including many of the world's top players. The ten participating teams have won a total of 190 domestic league titles, 246 domestic cup titles and 36 UEFA Champions League titles. The teams feature 18 of the 2015-2016 FIFA Ballon d'Or nominees, as well as 50 of the top 100 players in the world as chosen yearly by renowned English magazine FourFourTwo.

Founded in 1900, FC Bayern Munich is considered one of the top football clubs in the world, having won 25 German league titles and 27 domestic titles. In addition to its domestic success, the club has won five Champions League titles and have reached at least the semi-final round of the competition in each of the previous four years. Founded in 1902, Real Madrid have won the most European cup competitions in any club’s history - a staggering total of 10 titles, its most recent arriving in the 2013-2014 season. In addition, the Royal Whites have been champions of La Liga 32 times, while winning the domestic cup 19 times.
